So bloody cold

January 29, 2009 · 2 Comments

Yesterday morning at 8am our power went out. I hurried to put two layers of clothes on everyone and then set to making my bed the warmest nest possible. I layer two duvets, two fleece blankets, and a crocheted blanket and snuggled up with the boys. I had visions of reading books in bed all day and decided to start with Charlotte’s Web…they quickly got bored. So I set them free to brave the cold while I stayed cozy.  After lunch we settled into a very nice 3ish hour nap (the first nap Grey has taken in 6mo), it was very blissful. At 5 the power came back and Daddy came home to take the kids sledding.

Little Boy Blue

January 26, 2009 · 1 Comment

Jen came over friday night to help decorate, her nephew, Breck’s cake. I’ve never seen an Aunt so enamoured with her “little buddy” but it’s really sweet. He’s a lucky little dude.

sometimes I’ll start to think I have an ounce of talent and then I see something like this…

A friend sent me a pic of these this morning knowing of course that I would be floored. I would imagine that if this lady could do this she could sculpt just about anything. (I’ve googled it but can’t seem to find out who she is or I’d give her credit, if you find out put it in the comments).

A “Wicked” good time

Micah suprised me about a month ago with really wanting to go and see Wicked, we kept putting off buying tickets but finally got around to it. I’m super excited! We are going to our favorite resturant, L & N Wine Bar and Bistro, that offers a “Theater Dinner” so you’re sure to be done in plenty of time to go find parking and get to your seats. This is the first time we’ve done anything like this together so I can’t wait.

alternate light source

Our kitchen really isn’t laid out to have a light directly over the table.  I’ve been wanting to repurpose this mirror for awhile so I decided to use this Blik design and paint in on the mirror. I’m going to hang it across from the kitchen window so it should reflect a lot of light. I still plan to paint the frame white, but I think I’ll save that for another day (I’ve got to start making dinner).

I switched the picture to b & w to make it easier to see, I’ve still got to clean up a lot of fingerprints (but you get the idea).

I thought I’d finally post a picture of Cooper’s (assembled) birthday cake. We weren’t able to stay for the party so her Momma took the pic for me.

Bathroom overhaul

January 12, 2009 · 1 Comment

Last week I finally got around to redoing our bathroom. It was at the bottom of the list because on Micah and I see it, but I was finally at the breaking point. I just couldn’t stand it anymore. It’s a small bath but for the past couple of years we had been using this huge bookcase for storage, so I started with buying a new etagere. ( I plan on turning the bookcase on it’s side and using it as a bench for the kids at the kitchen table.)

Old bathroom had walls painted Crocodile Tear Green, dark overwhelming bookcase, green and brown shower curtain. It was just way to dark for me.

We haven’t done everything I’d like to but I really love how things have turned out so far. I spent $100 on the new Shabby Chic Etagere, the shower curtain was $20, the paint was a mistint from Lowe’s that I got for $5, and the baskets are from, believe it or not, the Dollar Tree $5 for all. So so far we’ve invested $130 and I think it looks SOOOOO much better.

Family Photos

January 10, 2009 · Leave a Comment

While we were in OK we had some family pics taken. The lady was incredibly cheap and it only took her 30 min. to snag all the photos we asked for. There are a few things that I wished she had done differently but considering she got a few gems and had to rangle 4 kids, it’s a miracle she even got one usable shot. I told my sister-in-law I’d post em so she could see since they weren’t able to be there this year.

Worlds best dog

I don’t know another dog who would sleep through having random objects piled on his chest. He really is the BEST dog.
