Thanksgiving

November 29, 2008 · 3 Comments

We had an awesome Thanksgiving! It was extremely relaxing and the food was pretty great. I made the Derby, Pumpkin, Apple pie & Caramel sauce the night before to cut down on “day of” stress. The menu consited of:

  • Pumpkin & Pear Soup
  • Cornbread Stuffing
  • Deviled Eggs
  • Roasted Root Veggies
  • Peking Duck (In honor of Gong Su joining us for the meal)

It was the first time I’ve ever prepared a holiday meal and I must admit I got a real high from it, but with every high there is a low and I crashed around 6 and didn’t get up until 7:30.

We went to Maryland last Wed and got back yesterday…exhausted!. We had such a great time with my brother and his family. I don’t think we ever sat still, the boys played sooooo awesome together, and it was just a real blessing to get to go and meet Dillon. We decorated the new guys nursery with a few murals and an awesome rope name sign. I also put a mural in Eli and Ben’s room. We had a huge family dinner one night with beef tenderloin and wine, and capped it off with watching the OU vs. T Tech game on Sunday night (to be honest I read through most of the game ) :-)

Cooper’s 1st Cake

November 19, 2008 · 2 Comments

This has got to be one of my favorite cakes ever! I’m too nervous to put it together before I take it to Kasey’s so here are pics of the cake still separated. I haven’t put the topper on yet either.

Micah’s Birthday

November 17, 2008 · 2 Comments

Micah’s birthday was friday so with the help of Colin, Brock, & Joslyn we got everyone from work together to celebrate with a special lunch at Barton’s. I also got up the nerve to make Micah’s dream cake that he came up with in his devious sugar-aholic brain. It was a layer of brownie with peanut butter sauce on top, a layer of chocolate chip/walnut cookie, a layer of eggless chocolate cake, with his favorite meringue icing on top.

hodge-podge o’ stuff

The BLC had their November meeting at Desha’s and we spent 3 wonderful hours talking about all sorts of things that would embarass “normal” women. I LOVE these ladies!

The cake for Grey’s school auction turned out really cute. The fondant was a little less than perfect, but considering it was homemade (and tasted so much better than store bought) I think it looks pretty good.

Micah decided to blow all the leaves from our tree into a HUGE pile for the boys to play with and they had a blast. It was so cute to watch them topple the pile, even Vlad got into the spirit by fighting with the blower.

Our neighbor go drawn for the elk hunt this year and bagged a big one. He brought the cleaned head over for the boys to see (his coolness factor went WAY up after that).

Twilight

This is such a fabulous picture of them! In the past 10 days I’ve read the first 3 Twilight books and I can’t wait to read the last (as soon as my neighbors other friend finishes it). To be honest I kinda wanted Bella to end up with Jacob (until I saw the kid they cast as Jacob, he’s nothing like the book). So I’m dying to know what happens to the lover’s triangle. DON’T TELL ME!

Great Necks

November 8, 2008 · 2 Comments

I love dresses and if I could I would wear them everyday, and if I didn’t spend most of my time playing with two very rough little boys it might be a real option. When it comes to dresses though I like a simple body structure and one great detail. My favorite thing is a great neckline, that one of the great perks of not having a large chest…I can wear a great neckline without looking like I’ve painted a bulls eye on my boobs.

I found this Hot Toddy Dress($87.99) on Modcloth and it just looks like the PERFECT Christmas dress to me. I adore the neckline (I have a huge weakness for good necklines) and it can be worn two different ways.

Such a lovely twist on an old classic, the Cookies and Cream dress ($49.99)

The Miss Moneypenny Dress, this is oh so pretty, I can just imagine feeling perfectly chic at a cocktail party or even a job interview. It’s definitely a stretch for my pocketbook at $147.99, but if I had it to throw away here’s where it would go.
