Inspiration: After being continually inspired by the lovely Off the Wall blog, I decided to go for the big guns and finally indulge myself with a antique blue front door. So here’s what I was going for.

Execution: I put two coats of the same paint I used on the shutter on the door. I used Valspar’s Antiquing glaze on top of that. Since I didn’t have a space to work on them that was away from the elements the glaze dried much faster than I would have liked, so some spots don’t look quite like I would have prefered. I do however get a smile on my face when I look at my new door.

Saturday morning Jen and I met up at Magpie Yarn to learn to knit and purl with the best of ‘em. It was a lot of fun and we’ve decided that when we’re 60 we’ll meet up on the beach in Florida, knit and drink vino. Afterwards we came home and took a HUGE family nap until 5:30pm…delicious! The evening was nice and relaxed; beer, mac’n'cheese, playing in the yard, baseball. The boys headed to bed while I started on Kasey’s cake. It ended up looking nothing like the sketch, but I think she liked it none the less.

Sunday morning was the Tri for Sight, so the kids and I got up early and headed to Lexington to cheer daddy on. He did so fantastic and we were so proud (what a great role model he is for our little sons). It was also Vlad’s first public outing and he did fantastic. He made lot’s of new friends both human and canine.

After a tough couple of days I’m officially shutting off the left side of my brain and letting the right side roll. I’m going to make a birthday cake for a friend who was kind enough to give us tickets to join her and her family as well as some mutual friends at Keeneland all day Sunday.

I’m going to go to a beginners knitting class with my BLCmate Jen Saturday morning, which should be a blast and I plan to come home afterwards and make an caramel apple pie and a yummy fall dinner topped off with some wine. I’m sure Micah will want to watch some baseball and I think that will make for a wonderful end to a peaceful day.
Sunday morning the kids and I will be up bright and early to go the the Tri for Sight in Lexington to cheer Micah on. He’s been training so hard I can’t wait to see how he does. So goodbye for the weekend lovelies!

Say goodbye to the crappy cottage and hello petite maison. I got a bee in my bonnet last week and decided that if we were going to stay in this house for awhile longer (still no offers) then I’m going to make it the house I want it to be. So I painted the shutters and a matching planter. I also picked out a new light fixture and doorbell cover (that my wonderful neighbor installed for me).

I plan to paint the door a matching blue and put some antiquing stain on top. My plan is to make this the cutest little house there ever was, after much inspection it will take less money to buy/remodel everything I want for this house than to pay a realtor to sell it….nice surprise!
