Smart Car

June 28, 2008 · 3 Comments

Some friends of ours told us their neighbor is getting a Smart Car, and while I’d heard about them I’d never actually seen one. Probably because they have only been sold in the US since Jan ‘08. The are two seater coupes that are supposed to get anywhere from 45-60mph (depending on who you talk to). While both Micah and I were impressed by the gas mileage we both thought that anything that small wouldn’t fit his 6′4″ frame…but after looking into it I was completely surprised. I looked at a lot of little commercial clips on their site and did some investigating and it’s pretty amazing. Of course once I found out they were made by Mercedes Benz my opinion of them went way up. The are just as safe as most luxury coupes. The technology and quality they use to make this little car make the little price tag look even more attractive. You can get the Pure model for as low as $11,500…but a more realistic price considering that you are going to want air conditioning is about $12,500. The Passion Cabriolet starts at $16,500. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get one of these for a roustabout.

I WANT ONE!

New blog to stalk…Willow Decor

If this is a Butler’s Pantry then I want to be the staff. It’s a little fussy for my taste (hence the chandelier), but I LOVE the white cabinetry with the black hardware.

Can you even imagine how wonderful if would be to walk into this bathroom/dressing room to get ready every morning. It may even inspire me to be a morning person (if you put a coffee maker in the corner).

Look at this paper garden…oh it makes me so happy.

A lot going on

June 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

We had an unexpectedly on wonderfully full weekend. Friday night we went to church to the parking lot party with our boys and the neighbors neice and nephew. It was a ton o fun. I’m kicking myself for not taking pics but I guess I don’t have to document everything the boys do :-) . Grey had his first sleepover at the neighbors with the kids and spent the whole next day with them at the Explorium. (Thanks Kellys!)

I went to Sara’s bachlorette party on Saturday and all the ladies were in dresses and had a cosmo in hand. I REALLY wish I had pictures of Sara opening her  gifts…even I had to blush a few times. And sweet Sara was sure to inform everyone that it’s only 34 more days till……. I think the excitement and innocence of a bride to be is a blessing for an old married girl to behold.

Sunday was a lazy day that ended in a small cookout/birthday party for some family friends oldest boy Jack. Grey has idolized Jack from day one so he’s always up for a day of playing with the big boys. Thankfully I did get some great pics of the kids playing baseball with Micah and post watergun fight. Then the drenched little ones schmeared themselves in birthday cake and we adults played some Wii.

To top it all off today is Vlad’s 9mo birthday. He’s up to 60lbs. and about 25 in. The fact that Gentry just bounced a real basketball of Vlad’s head and he just kept walking is a testament to what a great family pet he truly it. (I love my puppy!)

Growing Up

June 20, 2008 · 5 Comments

This morning I noticed Gentry was nowhere to be found. When I did find him he was curled up in Grey’s bed with a good book.

When I pointed out to Grey that he might need help reading it, he hopped right up to help.

Grey has been focused on going to China for a couple of months now. He’s been caught stealing change from Grandpa’s room a few time for this reason, so to curb the stealing I decided we should just make a chore list. Both boys were really excited about it, and Grey even offered to clean the whole house for $0.25, but I’m not into child labor so I thought it would be nice to make it a little more fair.

Father’s Day (very very late)

June 20, 2008 · Leave a Comment

For father’s day Micah took Grey to his first ML baseball game featuring his favorite team the Red Sox. They played the Red’s and both boys had a wonderful time. He also took Grey on his first camping trip to Fort Boonesboro. My kids definately have the best daddy!

10 things on Tues (on Wed)

June 18, 2008 · 2 Comments

Last night I was laying awake and thinking of all the things I would like to accomplish (I still have plenty of time right?). So here are 10 of my big dreams that I would like to have done in the next 10 years.

  1. Open a bakery
  2. Write a book
  3. Build a house
  4. Own a farm
  5. Become fluent in another language
  6. Have a daughter
  7. Do yoga everyday
  8. Own a coastal vacation home (big enough for my whole fam)
  9. Be a guest on Martha or Oprah (don’t laugh)
  10. TBD (it’s always good to leave room for more :-)

Two super ideas

June 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’ve always loved the idea of individual guest soaps, but when you buy the little molds you still use an ounce of soap and most of the time your guest is only going to use it once. So I had a genius idea… why not just buy the block of soap and use a cheese shaver to shave off sheets and put them in little envelopes. That way when a guest goes to the powder room they don’t have to put their hands on the same pump as everyone else (plus the pumps always drip). I plan to one day have a little apothocary jar full of these guys

What is better than a cup of fresh hot coffee? A FAST cup of fresh hot coffee of course. Once again, product designers have spelled the end of the spoon in our coffee/tea drinking tradition. Intended to be a simple solution for diners and less service oriented restaurants, this all in one tubular design holds both the instant coffee and the sugar/creamer in one neat package. When the contents are poured out, you simply use the package itself as a spoon to stir your brew. I can see tearing off the other end and using the left over carcass as a straw or pencil case… maybe not.

From sofa to bunkbed

June 9, 2008 · 2 Comments

Everyone has witnessed a sofa become a fouton bed in an oh so uninpressive fallind down kind of way, but to see a sofa become a bunkbed…well that’s just awesome! You can find the new sofabed here.  I stumbled across it on the home rejuvination blog. I think mom and dad should  get three of them and make a bunk room in the basement for the grandkids…what do you think mom?
