Good Morning Poison Control

January 28, 2008 · 4 Comments

Surprise Surprise, we woke up Sat. morning to…

“Mommy, my belly hurts, I don’t feel berry good.”
“what have you done Grey?”
“It’s in the bathroom, it was uncle Eby’s slip”
“Uncle Ebens’ what? what did you eat Grey?”
“I just wanted some chwocwat….”

So Grey had eaten some of Eben’s dip. We called poison control and they said that he would probably vomit, but don’t force him to, go ahead and feed him, and watch him closely (because it can cause seizures in small children, micah decided to omit this information until the next day). So I think we are just going to have to start locking his door, no other alternative.

We went to Tendai’s birthday party Sat. night. It was at his brothers house (next door), they had it in the basement which was equiped with all of your party needs, including a projection tv, sauna, d.j., and bar. I don’t really know if the cake was a hit or not but one of the quests happen to be a pastry chef for the Maker’s Mark Lounge and she really loved it. We had a great time and stayed until a little after 1am. We had planned to stay at Micah’s uncles house in Louisville, but like all old people we wanted to sleep in our own bed, so we got home about 2:30. Of course Gentry woke up and was up until 3:30ish. She we spent the next day taking shifts sleeping trying to make up for it.

By the way Vladimir is getting pretty big, he’s already up to around 30lbs. at 14 weeks.

Cakes and Razor Blades

January 25, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m working on a cake for a birthday party this weekend and it is by far the largest I’ve ever made. The bottom is 13×24 (3 layer) and the top is an 8″round (4 layer). It was too big to fit in the fridge but luck for us our shed is a walk in freezer due to the temp. So we wrapped them tight and put them outside to set overnight. It should look pretty groovy when I’m done if all goes well. I must say my new mixer ROCKS! I was even able to make homemade fondant. I didn’t think it was possible, and I haven’t rolled it out yet so I still don’t know how it’s going to act, but it’s still cool.

I just found Grey in his bed with a cut thumb because he had snuck into Uncle Eben’s toiletry bag and he had gotten out his razor.  (For Fred: I’m charging the camera battery as we speak so I will start taking pics :-) I’m not even going to mention that his mattress was off and he had the 16qt. stock pot in bed as well, nope not even gonna go there.

I have no idea…

January 23, 2008 · 7 Comments

Last night I put Grey down around 9 because he took a good nap. I went in once when he wouldn’t calm down and traded out the toy he had for a book (you see, I’m not all bad, don’t care if he sleeps as long as he doesn’t wake up Gentry). So then I came back out to the dinner table. We had no TV on, no radio, no noise what so ever. But at 9:45 he was still awake, so I went to go check on him…

He had gotten one of those jelly filled ice packs and somehow ripped it open. He had poured the filling all over the floor. In an attempt to hide it he pushed his top mattress off onto the floor. When that didn’t seem to do the trick he took off his sheet, unzipped his plastic sheet and tried to put the filling in there. I walked in at this point.
I means seriously where do I go from here…I’m out of creative ideas, and bribery. I’ve just got nothing left, what do you do with a child who is hell bent towards destruction?

We slept in this morning, thankfully Grey’s school was cancelled due to snow. I love it when being lazy pays off!

UPDATE

January 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

We finally got all of our old pictures off of our very obsolete laptop. The are pics of Grey from 10-16mos. And for everyone who things that Gentry looks just like Grey, I think you will see otherwise. Greys hair was blonder and he was SO FAT! Anyway, the pics are posted on Grey’s page (the tab at teh top). I’ll bring them up to date soon.

How does a child test the boundaries of your love?

He pours food coloring on a $1000 couch.

Good News

There’s another Schulz baby on the way, due Sept 17th, but if you look at the last two babes history says the baby will be here at least a week early. It would be really cool if s/he came on the 10th (Gentry’s b-day). That would be cool because my brother and I share the same birthday, and then we would have children that share the same birthday. So congrats Brian and Jen. Love you lots!!!

Lusterdust

January 14, 2008 · 5 Comments

So the finance fairy has been sprinkling some luster dust around here lately.

I always thougretire.jpght that we were going to retire at 68…like everyone else and that sounded seriously depressing when you consider that it’s 42 years away. But a little birdy wispered in Micah’s ear that at the pace we were putting money away we can retire much earlier. So last night the Excel wizard worked his magic and did some projections to see when we could “really” retire. And DUDE! If we have one more baby when we are planning to (not that we might not have more), we can retire when she graduates high school. Now that sounds REALLY COOL!

I can totally get on board with the idea of sending the last little bugger off to school, closing down the house for the winter and going on a six month vacation. That sounds like a perfect trasition into our “Golden Years”. And all of my body parts might still be within six inches of their starting points.
