Slippers for Grey

September 26, 2007 · 6 Comments

When I was making Gentry’s slippers Grey kept asking for some. I wasn’t really planning on making him any until Micah said “don’t worry some day he’ll stop asking you to make him things.” It made me sad to think that one of these days he would no longer ask me to make him something special…so out of motherly love/guilt I made him a pair. They were easier than Gentry’s because I could get him to stand still to measure and I’d already worked out the kinks on Gentry’s, and since Grey is old enough to ask for what he wants he decided they needed to be firetruck slippers…viola’.

Thanks Nanny & Papa

For Gentry’s birthday my parents got the boys a table, which they absolutely LOVE!!! They’ve had so much fun being big boys and eating at their own table. Grey put all of the chairs in a line this morning and pretended it was a train…so cute. Thanks again guys for the table I hope it lasts long enough for you to see it :-)

Here are some pics of Micah in his new ad campaign for Soul Glow. Or maybe he’s going for a young Albert Einstein. (Dad is this what your perm looked like???)

Triatholon

September 24, 2007 · 8 Comments

Micah did his tri this weekend and he was AWESOME!!! I’ve never been prouder, he beat his personal goal by 2 min. For a guy who didn’t know how to do more than doggy paddle from one end of the pool to the other 4 months ago it’s pretty amazing that he could even compete with these people, and he only started biking 2 years ago. It’s cool that he even wanted to try it let alone do this well. He came in 9th in his age cat. at 143min, and 29th overall.  I could gush for hours about how proud I am but I know that would only embarrass him (so call if you want the schpill :-) Scroll down to Male 25-29 (he’s #9).

I also made Gentry some shoes this weekend…they’re really cute but took a lot longer than I thought to make.

Hairtastic

September 21, 2007 · 12 Comments

In preparation for the Triathalon on Sunday Micah went and got his hair put into plants. They are probably only going to stay around for a week, so just to make sure everyone gets to see them…here’s the pics.

All for naught

September 21, 2007 · 2 Comments

I called about Gentry’s blood test today and they said that the whole panel looked great. If you remember his hemoglobin was 7.5 when they tested it and it was supposed to be an 11, well this time it was a 12.5. She said it must have been some glitch in the machine. On one hand I’m soooo thrilled that nothing is wrong, but I’m a little miffed that they put my 1yr old through all of that because of a glitch…by the way his little arm is now bruised.

I checked to see if youtube had up a video of this yet and it doesn’t but I would check for it later tonight. JT & Reba just performed this song on Oprah and it’s really beautiful. I predict someone at chuch will be singing it in the next couple of months.

Gentry get’s his blood drawn

September 18, 2007 · 5 Comments

We went to the hospital today to get Gentry’s blood drawn to test his iron level. It was HORRIBLE!!! I asked the phlebotomist is they have a lot of children come through and she said yes, so I just assumed she would be able to find the vien…nope. She stuck that needle in and hunted around for like 45 seconds trying to hit the vien. I was sooooo pissed off. We will never have pediatric work done there again. As a side note, I’m not a huge fan of nurses, if I’m paying my Dr. to do something I want my Dr. to do it, not a nurse. I think they should have to wear stripe or stars that indicates how long they have been doing this, and then they should have to tell you how many times they have performed a procedure before you let them touch you. Dr. go through numerous years of specified training but nurses can go through 2 and be able to draw blood…seriously, that just seems so wrong.  I was so shook up when we left that I backed into some lady, but she must have not had insurance cause she just flipped me off and drove away…oh well.

On another topic, I went to my first belly dancing class last night and it was a lot of fun. We did about 30 min of yoga and pilates to start (which I love b/c my joints are so bad), then did an hr. of dancing which was pretty cool. I’ll let you know how it goes, it’s a six week course.

There’s an update on Gentry’s page and here’s a video of him walking through the house and Grey complaining that he can’t find his blocks.

Update on Logan

September 17, 2007 · 2 Comments

I stole this from Bryan’s blog
Logan had a rough one yesterday. It started well with the heart team deciding he was stable enough to pull his intracardiac lines and temporary pacer wires. They also discontinued his Fentanyl drip (pain medication). This is not to say Logan wasn’t receiving something for his pain, just not in continuous form. The goal is to try and wake him up a little more.
Another issue that began yesterday was vomiting, which, as you can imagine, is very painful. Because of this, last night they restarted IV fluids.
Today Logan lost both IV sites and now has two brand new ones. He’s also experiencing severe belly pain which has his team suspecting kidney stones. A CT scan is planned to investigate.

Campouts, church, & champagne

September 17, 2007 · 6 Comments

Micah and Grey had a campout in the living room this weekend. Grey was so thrilled by the idea that he talked about it for days. They ate popcorn and watched Lightning “the” Queen and then slept all night in the tent. It was just the most precious thing, and Gentry thought the air matress was pretty groovy as well.

Then Saturday Micah did a test run for his triathalon this coming weekend, we just hung out for the middle of the day and headed to church in the evening. Micah was working in the nursery so I sat with some friends of mine, that was probably a mistake. It ended up being a really emotional service for me, they showed a video of a lot of people getting baptized ( I almost always cry during baptisms) it was especially hard to watch because Fred was in the video and he’s the one who was there when I baptized Micah. It was also the service that announced the news that Fred is taking another preaching job in NC. I know this is what’s best for them, but it’s not what’s best for me (and isn’t that who were concerned about here?). I thought I was being fairly sly and hiding my tears but when I turned around to leave Jen was staring at me. So I guess I’ll get over it and just have to plan a few trips to NC.

Sunday I headed to Cincinnati with Laura to pick up her wedding dress. It was in one of those fancy schmancy shops where they serve you champangne and act all snobby, but that’s what made it fun. She looked absolutely stunning in her dress….Brock, you are a lucky man! I wanted to take pics but I was afraid that Brock would sneak on here and look.

Then last night we had the neighbors over for dinner, we made lasagne with Micah’s homemade cheese, some tomatoes another neighbor gave us, and my homemade pasta…for all that work, it was okay. I wanted it to be a lot better. Oh, well here’s to the start of a new week.
